Q: Who should use MailboxAlert?

A:

Probably everyone that does have at least one email account that is not multi-gigabyte (notably GMail) or unlimited (notably Yahoo). Generally all email accounts from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have very very low storage limits. MailboxAlert is also useful if you have a multi-gigabyte account and actually use that much space. CoreCode has determined in a decade of writing thousands of support emails that about 5 percent of Mac users are unreachable at some point in time because of filled up mailboxes. Don't let that happen to you - use MailboxAlert.

Q: What kind of e-mail accounts does MailboxAlert support?

A:

MailboxAlert should support all IMAP accounts with and without SSL encryption. If you have a IMAP account but it does not work, just let us know. If you need support for POP accounts, let us know. Be aware that MailboxAlert can automatically determine how much can be stored on the account (quota) for most servers, but for some servers you need to enter this storage limit manually (ask your mail account provider about the limits if you can't find it in your records).

Q: I've set MailboxAlert not to display any user interface. How do I get it back?

A:

If MailboxAlert is already running but invisible then just double-click it again in the Finder. This will open the preferences window and give you a chance to change your settings.

If you hold down the alt/option key while double-clicking MailboxAlert in the Finder this will display the preferences window and additionally change the settings to display a icon in the Dock.
